Yessica Diaz Roman, DrPH, MPH
Dr. Roman is actively involved in the San Diego community and has focused her efforts on promoting diversity and improving the health and well-being of those in need. She teaches Behavioral Science classes at Southwestern College (SWC) and serves as a Senator for the School of Arts, Communication and Social Sciences. She currently serves as the Health Chair for MANA de San Diego Inc., and is a past board member, Hermanitas mentor, and recipient of the MANA national scholarship. Her love for mentoring continues as a mentor for the Esperanza program in Washington DC and SWC's Puente Program. Dr. Roman is a board member for Columbia University’s Alumni Association of San Diego and alumni of the RISE Urban Leadership Fellows Program. She was recently appointed as a Steering Committee Member for the National Hispanic Medical Association- Southern California Chapter. She holds a Doctorate in Sociomedical Sciences from Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health and a joint Master’s in Public Health and Social Work from the University of Michigan.
